Dr. Taralyn Teo is a post-doctoral psychologist at the Williamsburg Therapy Group who has experience providing therapy to adults, adolescents, and young children with a range of concerns including identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, coping with stress, loss of loved ones, and relationship issues.
Dr. Teo tailors her approach to therapy to the individual, drawing primarily upon psychodynamic principles, while integrating cognitive-behavioral techniques, dialectical behavioral techniques, as well as mindfulness practices. When working with young children, she additionally employs child-centered play therapy techniques to cater to their developmental abilities.
With warmth, empathy, non-judgment, and careful listening, Dr. Teo creates a safe and comfortable environment for clients to express and explore their challenges so as to build insight. She aims to work collaboratively with her clients in their journey of deciding the changes they wish to make in their lives so that they can live meaningfully, intentionally, and authentically.
Additionally, Dr. Teo has experience conducting psychological assessments and writing psychological reports for students to identify strengths and difficulties, in order to assist in their educational planning and maximize their ability to learn in schools.
Dr. Teo received her masters and doctoral degree in school-clinical psychology from Pace University in New York City. She is experienced in working with adults and children in various settings, including community mental health, day treatment for individuals with serious emotional challenges and/or autism spectrum disorder, foster care, and several schools around New York.
Outside of therapy, Dr. Teo serves as an adjunct instructor teaching psychology to undergraduates.
